First Tamil Open World Video Game

Awakened Dogs is a project based on Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. It's a open world action video game based on Tamil culture and community.

What is it about ?

Defining Tamil culture and including gangster based storyline in the video game. Tamil culture is a unique factor around the world and as a person who was grown in a Tamil local community and flew aboard, I can see how people might relate to the culture once the game is releases.

Why I started this

journey ?

It was a long process. I started playing around PC when I was a 10-year-old kid and eventually played GTA Vice City which was a turning point in my life. That's where I was inspired to make a game based on my city Madurai. Started to use Flash, 3D rad and other tools in the early 2010s.

- 2010 -> 2012 • Learned flash with my mate Sathya

-2012 -> 2015 • Learned Maya and SketchUp. Used that skill to build a similar city in the 3D rad game engine

-2016 -> 2018 • Experienced with Unity 3d and failed multiple times

- 2018 -> 2020 •Tryed to change the topic and make a multiplayer game instead of an open world (Failed)

- 2021 -> Ongoing • Understood the process and have been working on developing the assets for the game

Madurai is an energetic, ancient city on the Vaigai River in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Its skyline is dominated by the 14 colorful gopurams (gateway towers) of Meenakshi Amman Temple. Covered in bright carvings of Hindu gods, the Dravidian-style temple is a major pilgrimage site. Millions attend the processions and ceremonies of April's Chithirai Festival celebrating Meenakshi and Lord Vishnu.

What is famous in Madurai ?

 

Cotton fabrics, hand-woven silk and batik textiles, bell-metal lamps, bronze images, wood and stone carvings are some of the things to shop for in Madurai. East Masi street, South Avani Moola and Town Hall Road are some of the most prominent shopping areas.

  • (Work in Progress) -> Meenakshi amman temple - The temple is built using Dravidian South Indian style of architecture, and is one of the most impressive temple structures in South India. The temple has 12 lofty gopurams, out of which 4 major ones are placed facing the four directions. There are 4 inner gopurams that act as the entrances to the shrine.

  • (Work in Progress) ->The Madura College established in 1856, is one of the oldest academic institutions in Madurai, India. It is an autonomous arts and science college affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University

  • (Work in Progress) ->Madurai Airport is a passenger and customs airport serving Madurai and its surrounding districts in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the 36th busiest airport in India both in terms of passengers handled and aircraft movement. The airport is located near State Highway 37 about 12 km south of Madurai City Centre.

  • (Work in Progress) ->Bypass Road stretches for a length of 1.43 Kms in the city Madurai in subdistrict Madurai South of the district Madurai. It connects ponmeni, sammatipuram, arappalayam, s s colony, bethaniyapuram areas.

  • (Work in Progress) ->Thanga Regal Theater is a very popular cinema theater in the Sount Indian city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The theater is also called as the Victoria Edward Hall which was established in 1902. Situated near the Madurai railway junction, this was the first closed auditorium for Maduraiites. Named after Queen Victoria who made a visit to this city, this architectural splendour has been standing tall and strong over the years.

  • (Work in Progress) ->Periyar Bus Stand is a central bus terminus for local city buses in Madurai in Tamil Nadu, India. The bus stand is one of the key bus terminus in Madurai.

  • (Work in Progress) ->Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple, Thiruparankundram is a Hindu temple and one of the Six Abodes of Murugan, located at Thiruparankundram, Tamilnadu, India. The temple is built in rock-cut architecture and believed to have been built by the Pandyas during the 6th century.

  • This phase is creating all-important locations around the Madurai to bring out the environment of the town and make people enjoy the culture - Dislcimar -> This game style is similar to GTA Vice City (Don't keep your hope high haha lol)

  • The request for $2000 is to make things interactive in the game and help me hire people to work on this game for  fasten up the progress
